If I spent my time focusing on writing what people want to read, I wouldn’t be writing what I want to share. I write what I want to share because I hope it can help someone.
If I began to write what I felt people wanted to hear, I would no longer have the enjoyment of being honest, vulnerable, or myself. I’d rather be authentic. I might also miss the opportunity to help someone, which was the only reason I started to write.
If you write for the right reasons, someone who needs it, will find it.
Do what you love because you love it, not because it’s lucrative. We all have a short time here. If you don’t fully enjoy it, then why do it? It can mean many things, but whatever it is, enjoy it.
I am finding myself more introspective. I spent a good portion of my life chasing goals I thought were important, mostly for monetary reasons. It didn’t really hit me until I told my manager at one of my first biotech companies, “I can’t keep trading away my happiness for money.” It came to me as I was talking to her, without really thinking too hard about it. I understood it completely, and it still sticks with me to this day.
Of course, we all need money to live, but within reason, make sure your happiness isn’t tied to money.
I don’t believe I provide facts. I don’t believe I provide guidance. I do believe I provide another perspective. I live my life by this process: understand multiple perspectives, and make decisions based on them.
Have purpose, direction, and perspective. With at least those three things, I think you’ll always find happiness.
I hope this reaches you!
