Caring
If you’re in my circle, your in it until you’re not. I lift up, protect and always have the back of people in my corner. Usually to make it in my circle, reciprocation is key. To me though, those people that I care for, are the most important people in the world to me. They are what shape me, I know they also have my back, and they bring me joy. I always felt, what’s the point of enjoying anything, if you don’t have people to enjoy it with.
Honesty
This one I learned from my mother, and my grandmother. My grandmother is from the south, they only know honesty. My mom taught me it differently. Stand up for what you believe, and don’t let anyone push you around. Also, be responsible for everything you do, and never follow anyone.
I think at times, this trait is viewed as being mean, or a asshole, lets be honest. I always ask people though, would you prefer I lied and you found out the truth, or would you prefer we just rip the bandaid off and figure this shit out?
Resourceful
I have learned that whenever the learning curve is steep, I can figure things out very quickly, and efficiently. When it comes to work, I prefer the most difficult task, it allows me to use parts of my brain that we often don’t use when we are constantly doing tasks that require very little to no thought process.
When it comes to life, I’ve found I love traveling, and figuring out what I want to do, where we want to go, and how we are going to get there on the spot. It was frightening at first, but I enjoy the thrill, spontaneity and using that part of my brain that seems to crave traveling like this.
Recently, my wife and I traveled to Japan. I didn’t figure out where we would stay until I got there. The entire trip was planned while we were there. I enjoyed it more than any trip I had been on, including the first time we went. We did something similar when traveling to Europe, It was also extremely fun.
Hard Working
I do this sometimes to a fault, but when it’s something that very difficult, I get caught up in trying to solve a problem. I like being able to be relied upon, but I also like being able to solve a very difficult dilemma.
I’ve worked so hard at time before, I’ve explained it as doing a marathon without stopping for water. I didn’t take vacations, and I just ran myself through the mud. For my mental health, it’s not something I can let myself do anymore, I work hard, but I only put in 8. Sometimes I will go over, but it’s for me to decide if I want to. At this point, I’d rather be late on a project, then to forgo my own personal well being just to get a job done.
Team Oriented/Friendly
This goes back to Caring. I like working with people, and I love helping people. I don’t know when this started, a big part of me feels like my big sis Mishonta, and my big brother Cell has a lot to do with this. They have a lot to do with me wanting to develop other people. I love them for that, I doubt I would be this way without.
Leader
I think I developed this from sports, but also my mother. My mother always would say, don’t write checks your ass can’t cash. Don’t get in trouble and follow, if you’re gonna get in trouble, at least let it be your idea. I hardly ever follow anyone into anything. I do what I want to do, including when I used to get in trouble.
A famous musician said this, “I bully myself 24/7” – 6lack. I tell me what to do, no one else does. Also, I lead by example, and lead by providing feedback and mentorship. I was provided things in my life by my big bro and sis, but I was also born with gifts. Why shouldn’t I share those gifts? We all only get one chance at this whole life thing.
Why not share notes?
