Resilience and Perseverance: Become Unstoppable

Resilience

I have always had the innate ability to adapt, recover, and overcome. It’s probably my most defining characteristic, I am relentless, especially when I know it’s worth the effort.

For me, my happiness and the people around me I care about the most, it’s seldom not worth the effort.

Overcoming often fulfills me more than generally succeeding. I love a challenge, but also, I love a challenge.

Adaptation is the cousin of growth. I thrive on growing, becoming different, becoming better.

Perseverance

These two go hand in hand. When I set a goal, it’s static, at least the endpoint. The path to reaching that goal may be dynamic, but the end goal never changes.

Obstacles, human or not, will never prevent me from reaching my goal. They may only obstruct, but never stop.

I am often frustrated by the steep learning curve, it’s because I want to be great at any task I start. It’s a good way to feel. I just realized I have to learn to temper it, and keep working towards that ultimate goal.

James Clear makes a very good point, and it still sticks with me now when I run in the rain, or tackle any task that will require patience and hard work: “Professionals stick to the schedule; amateurs let life get in the way.” -James Clear

The Combination: Becoming Unstoppable

When you combine resilience and perseverance, you become unstoppable. The limiting factor becomes you. You get tunnel vision, and the obstacles no longer remain in primary focus.

We all have this ability. Many times, people apply this for less important or easier-to-accomplish goals. Try. Try to apply it to a goal much more difficult, what is there to lose?

Use what you know about yourself, and apply it to every facet of your life. Don’t rely on listening to people who are afraid to try. They only tell you not to try because they fear trying. Don’t wait until you regret it, try, learn, understand when to continue to apply, adjust, and overcome.

It only makes us better to continue to try, and often fail. We owe it to ourselves, don’t quit. Set your goals, persevere. If those goals suffer a setback, show resilience.
