Relentless

Daily writing prompt
What is one word that describes you?

The Best Word that Describes Me

It’s not that there are no other words, but this best describes me.

Tell me if this describes me?

I was born in the 80’s, life was good, then the crack epidemic hit. We walked the streets we lived in a 1 bedroom apartment, we shared everything.

I often only had a chance to eat when I made it to school, which made going to school my primary objective.

Custody of me was transferred to my father, and eventually my grandmother.

I got in trouble, I hated life, I wanted things I felt was outside of my reach.

Stumbled in high school, I stumbled in college, I stumbled in life.

I made a lot of mistakes.

The Rebound

2 brothers, in need of a brother themselves is something I found in all of our time of need.

I developed understanding of want, vs need, vs reality.

Basketball is a sport I found that I could tirelessly work hard at, but it would also provide me the same level of detail I would need in school and my career.

I worked at developing a better relationship with my parents.

In High school, I rebounded after a major stumble that almost saw me kicked out of the SF school district.

I rebounded in college, I went to school for my mechanic certs.

The economy took a big fall, and I went back to school to get my engineering degree.

I had setbacks at work, but I always rebounded.

People have tried to take advantage of my kindness, or have tried to place blame on me when it wasn’t deserved, but I still refused to give in and accept blame, or allow someone to take advantage of my kindness.

You can throw any and everything at me. So long as I have any physical strength in my body, I won’t stop improving, progressing, overcoming.
